Assembling the new engine

All parts available assembly can start. New oil scraper ring is a bit different as the old one, but fits very well. Top: new piston, bottom: old piston.

Before assembly checking if the con rods are straight: putting 2 con rods on the piston pin.
Con rod and piston assembled, piston can be pushed in easily and positioned with 2 cir clips.
All pistons assembled and piston rings put on by hand. Recommended tools not necessary for a job like this...
Crankshaft fitted, new bearings mounted. Trust washer bearings at the center main bearing were too thick. Crankshaft did not turn easily. Mounted the old ones, 0.5 mm thinner, and hardly any wear visible.

Pistons placed in block.

Waterpump assembly
Studs and head mounted.
All bolts tightened to the right torque, and sump assembled.

It is starting to look like an engine again!
After assembling the camshaft, I tried to mount the distributor drive shaft, but it fell down the sump. The manual gives a good tip: Use one of the head studs, which can be turned in the shaft to mount it properly.
