Engine is running, first test ride

After fitted the alternator, fan, all connections, all cables and manual setting the of the timing at approximately 3 degr advance it was time to start the engine for the first time. But not after checking the oil level and exchanging the oil of the gearbox (last time was 8 years ago?). Found out that the typical heater hose exactly fits in the filling  hole of the gearbox. Adding exactly the right volume (1,24 L) made the refill easy.

Started engine.... start motor turning, not starting though. Worried like hell. But than came into mind that I had disconnected the fuel pump to avoid pumping fuel when testing the compression. Connected the pump, and started! Engine sounds perfect.

Short test run (40m, just out of the garage) and let it run idle for 20 minutes. Oil pressure at idle above 40 psi, driving above 60 psi.

Retorqued the head nuts, readjusted the valves to 0,3mm.

Time for a longer test run. Drove it for 20 minutes in town. Oil pressure up to 68 psi. It seems to have more power and no unidentified abnormal sounds. :)

I happy and proud Morris owner....
